The Smooth modifier smooths a mesh by flattening the angles between adjacent faces in it, just like the Smooth tool in Edit Mode. It smooths without subdividing the mesh, the number of vertices remains the same. This modifier is not limited to smoothing, though.
I used Blender Internal and rendered with smooth shading for smoothness. Using flat shading looks okay, except the "round" cutouts :/ Face normals are okay. First image is smooth shading. EDIT: User Pisurquatre suggested the EdgeSplit modifier, works perfect to me (Maybe a little tweaking here and there):
Jul 10, 2018 · Okay so to add bevel modifier is pretty straight forward. You select and object. Go to modifier panel in the properties editor. Click the “add modifier” button, then choose “bevel” in here. And we can see Blender add this bevels in all of the edges in our model.

If you're looking for "nice" (smooth) results, make sure that your subsurf is BELOW the displace modifier. Just be aware that the subsurf will smooth things without regard to accuracy. Any high-frequency data (sharp peaks, deep troughs, saddles, cliffs, etc.) will be essentially lost (smoothed over).
